Ingo Maurer GmbH
Ingo Maurer is without a doubt one of the most impressive, unusual and renowned lighting designer worldwide – in regard to personality as well as design. Maurer and his team create light objects and compositions, that elude all known conventions. With Ingo Maurer, all design starts with a single idea: playful, emotional and often wonderfully poetic. The idea manifests itself in a shape and is then further developed into a technically innovative lamp – instead of just remaining a light-emanating object.
Heine/Lenz/Zizka was asked to design a contemporary web appearance for this very special artist. It was to show every product’s complete history, from first sketches to the final object, in beautiful, visceral imagery, as experiential as possible. Secondly, it was to give an overview of Ingo Maurer’s various projects, like the Unicef Crystal Snowflake in 2004 or his current Broken Egg just being launched in Sao Paolo at the time. It was necessary to satisfy the visitor's need for basic information as well as quicken his curiosity through an extraordinary look behind the scenes.
We had the ambition to present Ingo Maurer's works through reduced design, with a simple layout, sparing any excessive effects, that is intentionally uncomfortable, images that don’t fit the usual perception. An intuitive sensation of turning the lights on, a strong contrast between light and dark, and unagitated typography with ideosyncratic details.
Needless to say, the website works responsively for all output devices.
