Hamburger Kunsthalle
People & Nature

It is an exceptional anniversary for an exceptional artist. Caspar David Friedrich is not only emblematic of Romanticism, but is also considered one of the most important German artists of all time.

To mark the 250th birthday of the Greifswald-born artist, the Hamburger Kunsthalle is showing over 100 of his paintings and prints, including a large number of his most important works.

Heine Lenz Zizka was commissioned to design an accompanying publicity campaign.

Central to Caspar David Friedrich's oeuvre is his examination of nature and his relationship with man.

Even though many of his paintings do not directly depict people, they can never be imagined without the human perspective. This juxtaposition is particularly evident in the function of the back figure.

The exhibition motif of the wanderer above the sea of fog is part of the collective visual memory. The colorful fading of the landscape in the background of the figure behind makes it all the more present. Visualization through omission.

With a concise campaign color, which was in line with the open-color brand image developed by Heine Lenz Zizka and the regular external communication of the Hamburger Kunsthalle, high visibility was achieved in analog and digital applications.
